Lovenly automatically applies a discreet “♥ Lovenly + date” watermark to each photo that passes through the application — profile photo as well as photo sent in conversation. It's our visible commitment to help everyone distinguish a real photo taken in the app from a scam photo found elsewhere.

The watermark appears at the bottom right of each photo, without hiding your face.
Why a watermark?
- Anti-scam.A scammer who tries to use a photo of Lovenly on another site will see the watermark — immediate proof that the photo has been hijacked.
- Instant confidence.When you receive a photo in chat with the watermark, you know that it went through our pipeline (not a screenshot taken elsewhere).
- Traceability.The printed date gives a time marker: the photo was uploaded at that moment, not before.
How it works
The watermark is added server-side, right after the photo goes through our standard processing (compression, removal of EXIF metadata). You don't have to do anything — it's automatic.
- Profile pictures.Watermark applied upon upload from onboarding or /parameters/photos. Visible on public profile.
- Photos in chat.Watermark applied on the browser side BEFORE sending, plus a second server pass for HEIC Android photos (which are not watermarked on the browser side).
- EXIF removal.Camera metadata is systematically removed: no GPS, no serial number, no hidden timestamp. Only the date of the watermark remains, visible and public.
Privacy
The watermark contains NO personal information. Just “Lovenly” and the short date (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM).
- No name, no nickname, no email, no location.
- Profile photos remain public. Photos sent in chat remain in a private bucket with a signed URL for 7 days.
- Identity verification by selfie (page /parameters/verification) does NOT receive a watermark — it is a photo intended for the moderation team, not for broadcast.
Report a suspicious photo
If you receive a photo that you think has been diverted from elsewhere (without a watermark, or stolen from a public Instagram account), report it from the conversation: tap “⋯” on the message → “Report”. The moderation team checks within 24 hours.
